Terrible company.....have paid all premiums promptly and let insurance lapse since it was in an estate. Now after probate is done they send me a bill to estate. All premiums were paid promptly.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This company charges higher premiums than most companies and when you let it lapse, they go for more money even when you have paid in a timely manner. I would not recommend this company to anyone because they take advantage of the customer who pays on time. Also, they billed an estate that has all ready been through probate. What kind of practice is this?

A “quote” turned into an “order” without our approval.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Im not sure who did what but a quote that was too high and we rejected turned into an order somehow. With an application we did not fill out or sign.

Then months of trouble, cancelling the bogus policy which they then caused trouble with our loans by sending out insurance cancellation notices and we still had our insurance in force. So I had to send out proof of insurance for the same company weve been dealing with for years now. Still going around on it and hopefully its finally cancelled. We had told them no because the insurance they quoted covered less but cost hundreds more each year.

Covered almost $100,000 less on our home. Just a mess.

The last person who called was nice - accounting but their underwriters and salesmen were a nightmare. Buyer beware.

Cancelled without notice!!!

This *** company cancelled home insurance without notification! They say I had to many claims!!!! Well I guess when Mother Nature *** makes trees fall on my home Im just supposed to keep paying insurance premiums without filing a claim to get the house fixed. Isnt that what *** what insurance companies are supposed to do? They insure your house!! So when you have damage, through no fault of your own you can get it fixed!! I guess they want to collect all your money and not cover what they are supposed to be insuring. I might as well just give them money every month for no *** reason because thats what we all do anyway. Cause they can raise rates for any *** reason and when you need them to cover losses from storms their *** *** pucker up and dont wanna pay out!!

A driver insured via Country Fiancial totaled my car and 2 others from being rear-ended on the highway. Police report dictated 100% at fault. Country rep. informs me that my auto is totaled but will not pay any funds until the other parties claims are settled due to medical/bodily injuries. Rep states it could take years. Property claims are a separate entity to which he stated, “It all is included and won’t be addressed individually”. It’s been 3 weeks and no call or updates. What a fine example of a trash company. My company was contacted, appraised the vehicle, towed it from storage facility, and paid lein off. They, my insurer, will subrogate on my behalf. I told the Country Financial rep that it’s like when your at a fast food place and all that you need is a ketchup but they make you wait behind the guy for 30 mins who’s ordered 10 burgers. Give me a ketchup pack and I’m out. So easy it could be. Country rep told me for 15mins about what he would not pay for. Never once did he mention what he could do. I’ve never in 45 years of driving encountered a company so void of character. If you use this company for any insurance needs, change immediately. The pic attached is of a Country Financial insured party. This vehicle totaled 3 other vehicles due to following too closely and failure to maintain control per police report

Exorsion

We are so disappointing with Country Financial Insurance. We have been members for about 10 years now. Us, our children, our parents, relatives and friends. This renewal all of us got our rates jacked up so much higher, we got ours raised by $130! No reported accidents or tickets, all because of some computer generated "score." Now we are all going to search for a different company, and we will be telling all of our friends and family to do the same. We tried calling Country to talk to them about this, but no one was able to help us. We had all of our belongings insured here.

They refuse to take liability even though it’s a clear cut case. Still no resolution or a car.

Lost a job not having a car and they have taken everything from me. They are terrible.

It wasn’t my fault and yet I have been the one that has gone to *** because of them. I hope they all rot in *** This insurance company shouldn’t be in business.

We were recently hit by a driver insured by Country Financial. The driver admitted fault, and we recorded her admitting fault.

The insurance company state that I coerced the driver and she was threatened. Unbelievable.. the officer was at the scene when I asked her if I could record her. It amazes me that someone would file a fraudulent statement to their insurance company.

Thankfully, we had a police officer stop and she admitted fault in the accident. The police office was wonderful and has agreed to contact the insurance company on our behalf. Warning... if you are hit by an insured from this insurance company be wary they will do their best to deny the claim.

I was told that they believe their insured over us...

even with all the photos and her admitting fault on video. This is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with.

Country Financial - Disappointed

I had a house fire, daughter submitted the claim for me. Met with the claim adjuster. I got my house rebuilt. Insurance went up nearly 700 a year since the loss. I called the agents office and spoke with daughter who is office worker there and asked why my premium jumped so high. In her words. “After a fire and payout most companies would drop you, but, you will always have a hike in premiums after having a fire due to your negligence”.

I was shocked at the tone and impassioned response to my loss. I asked a few more questions and asked why she had an issue with me. She stated her tone never changed she was just giving me the facts. I asked for the agent and was advised he was not available but at the hospital with her grandmother. I apologize for the inconvenience of needing information about my homeowners policy, could she get Scott to call me back. He called me about three hours later and was just as calus as he stated that Linsey always give straight forward answers.

I felt that the office I entrusted with the home I lived in would care and understand the difficulty I am having after losing everything I had work for in a blink of an eye. I can understand there would be an increase I was just shocked over the amount of increases and was not notified but found out from my mortgage company when they increased my mortgage payment. That was the true reason for calling.

I would believe that the company that sold me my policies would be more empathetic and choose another why of delivery.

I never asked for my house to catch fire and everything within to be a loss. Very disheartening that the insurance company I have entrusted with not only my house and personal property but myself, would treat me and the situation in such a offensive rude manner.

Refused to pay

My car was hit while being parked in a lot. While doing the body work, the car was exposed to 130C which caused a large crack across my windshield from a rock chip that was there before. The company refused to pay for a new windshield. Although this crack is a direct consequence of their client hitting my car and needing body work done! I am out the cost of the deductible but I did nothing wrong! I was not even in the car when this happened! Further their customer reps do NOT return calls, set you up with rental cars that are then not available and send you to the wrong rental place! This is the worst insurance company ever! Stay away!

Terrible Company

I was rear ended in February of 2014 by someone with Country Financial. Found out on the scene that his license had been revoked. Here I am 4.5 years later dealing with a collection agency on my credit because they STILL will not pay my medical bills, and never paid my lost wages. They got me a rental car for 3 days. As soon as the adjuster declared my car a total loss, they made mereturn the car. Fortunately I was able to carpool until I could get a replacement since I had a 35 mile commute. Then the rep actually complained to me that the bank made them pay the full balance on my car instead of letting them negotiate a settlement. Every time I would send in paperwork they would claim they never received it, even though I sent everything certified and could prove they had. If you are hit by someone with this insurance, don't even get out of your car until you have contacted an attorney. I wish I had done so at the time. It would have saved me a ton of headaches. I've had a few accidents over the years, and I have never dealt with a company with so little integrity. Shocked

I've been a customer for over 30 years and they have messed up our 4 life insurance policies. Too long of a story but we pay over $6000 a year with all our insurances, Life, vehicles, and homes and they are willing to let us go over a $800 dollar dispute!

SO DISAPPOINTED.

They love to take your $$ but when it comes to admitting an error on their end you are ignored and told nothing they can do!! We are currently leaving the company.

I've been with them since 1986 aka Cotton States Ins. Co., service became terrible when Country Financial took over......down hill since then.

Can't get agent to return phone calls, go to his office and he either isn't there or setting outside in hie pretty new big 4x4 truck with the door open talking on his cell phone while wearing short pants. My account was transferred to this new agent when my agent closed down their office. The first time I went to his office he told me he didn't make any money off of my account, that my former agent made all the money. *** somebody is making a lot of money off of me.

That I do know for a fact.

This agent is 1 hour drive from my home and there are other agents about 20 minutes from my home. I DO NOT GET WHAT THERE PROBLEM IS......you can always count on the House & Vehicle premium notices to be On Time!

Resolved: Second terrible experience in a month

Updated by user Jul 18, 2018

I wasn't made clear on whom the payment issued (text message I received), was actually being issued to. I spoke with someone today and asked for explanation after receiving a second text message stating another payment in the sum of what it would cost to repair the damage, was being sent...again, to whom??

The autobody shop I went to for an estimate? No. I was wrong in my understanding or lack thereof, so I completely apologize for my poor review in this particular matter. However, Ive never had any type of accident happen to any car I've ever had in the past, nor have I ever had full coverage insurance so there is alot that im still not aware of or how really any of this works.

What the person I spoke to said was that the payments mentioned in the texts are being sent to me...so I can choose the autobody shop id like to go with for repairs and also that it is foing to cause my insurance rate to go up if I choose to go that route. Not something im willing to do, being that we all know how this works by now.

Insurance company sends you a check, you call your cousin to do the repairs for 70% less of what the estimate was and then blow the rest of the money and then get hit with the reminder that you'll be paying it back, by paying out the waazoo for your new monthly rate. Im cool on that BUT, I did want to clear up what I had stated yesterday while not within the right understanding.

Original review Jul 17, 2018
I filed an insurance claim recently for a small incident involving my vehicle in which I was told that I would be given the opportunity to decide with whom I would like to have repairs done by.. I went to the autoshop the insurance claim agent recommended, was told to let them know id only be there to receive an ESTIMATE and that I would like to decide myself, if Id be getting any work done there. later this afternoon, I receive a text message that payment has been issued. The autobody shop that I went to knew that I only wanted an estimate, as I was clear in my intentions. we agreed and that was that. Im canceling my insurance because the incompetence is too rel with this company. I told them to cancel the payment, and it has been cancelled, but they know exactly what they're doing when they do things like this and shame on Schaefer Autobody for knowing damn well what I wanted and doing what they wanted instead.

Third Party Roadside Assistance Nightmare

I am a current insurance policy holder and this evening, I required roadside assistance for a jumpstart due to the battery in my car dying for the second time since yesterday. My husband placed the call to customer service for me and he was told that it would be a third party roadside assistance company that would be coming to jumpstart my vehicle and that the wait would be about an hour.

That information was accurate and the person working for this third party company did in fact arrive, however, it was a terribly unprofessional and startling experience. This man pulled up to my vehicle in a rather unannounced and uncouth manner and said to me " you cant answer your phone?" I was caught off guard as I did not realize who this person was that was speaking to me this way. I asked him what he was talking about and he repeated himself "you can't answer your phone?" And I said "my phone didn't ring, so I dont know what you're talking about". I still hadnt realized who this person was and I reached for my pepper spray due to my sudden level of discomfort and confusion.

He then said "you called for roadside assistance?" And then I realized...this unprofessional mess of a person, was the one who was sent to assist me. He had my husbands phone number, not mine, and my husband missed his call. My husband called him back while he was speaking AT me and he answered his phone and asked my husband in the same manner, why he couldn't pick his phone up. Not only was he completely irresponsible and uncouth in his whole manner, but he had a pregnant female in his vehicle with him when he arrived and she was just as unaware of her debauchery as he was.

They were simply ghetto and ridiculous, in plain english. My car was jumpstarted and I was able to leave so I am grateful for that but the lack of tact and awareness is what I cannot get passed. I am a woman who was sitting in my vehicle alone, in a dark parking lot and what looked to be a random man pulled up to my vehicle and spoke to me as if he had no type of class or respect or realization that he needed to be professional just for 5 minutes. We pay our full coverage car insurance every month and our policy expires in september.

We are not willing to stay with Country Financial after September due to this ridiculous experience. We will not pay for services that are served with incompetence nor stay with a company who doesn't have enough control over who it is that they send to assist their paying customers.

Switched to Country Financial Insurance after a friend had taken over the local branch. He asked to give me a quote compared to State Farm, and since he was a friend, I let him. I was impressed as the quoted rates were indeed lower for the same coverage...so I switched. Things were fine until my truck was involved in a hit and run. I took it to several auto body shops for quotes and none of them would even give me a quote based on Country as my Insurance provider. When I asked why, I was told, "because Country Financial doesn't pay its bills." This was very concerning. Fortunately, I was able to get my truck repaired thru a different insurance coverage I had. Shortly after that, I started getting letters from my mortgage bank because Country Financial was not providing the correct coverage statements to them in a timely manner. I called the local office several times and left messages because nobody would ever answer the phone. The corrections were never made and I kept getting the letters from my mortgage bank threatening to add their own insurance that was dramatically more expensive. Finally, I had to get a hold of my agent BY FACEBOOK before he would finally respond and take care of things. Unbelievable! Well, today I'm cancelling ALL of my policies with Country and switching back to State Farm. I don't care if it's more expensive...it's just not worth it. If you're looking for insurance...stay away from Country Financial!!

Awful claims service!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Their insured hit our car while backing from her driveway. We were gett8ng ready to move forward, but we weren’t even moving. The police officer came & said that she made an illegal lane crossing, but he didn’t ticket her because she was elderly & he felt bad for her. Country insurance claims examiner said if she spoke to the officer, and he said it was the lady’s fault, they would re-examine the claim. We got the officer’s number & gave it to her. We didn’t hear anything for a few days. Then.....we received a letter from them saying that we were responsible for damage to her vehicle of $1900! We called them & she said that instead of calling the officer, she checked with her supervisor and she was told to handle it like that. Having worked in the auto department of an insurance company, I was shocked & confused. I have never seen or heard of anything like it. Their “reason” was that the officer wasn’t there to SEE the accident & there were no witnesses. I asked her how often an officer is AT the scene of an accident. She said “hardly ever”. So.... we had to turn it in to our insurance company, who was also shocked, and they will fight the claim. The officer said he will be happy to testify in court if we need him to. Sooooo frustrating & unbelievable: STAY AWAY FROM COUNTRY INSURANCE!!!
